The Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award

What does it involve?

There are 4 main areas to the Duke of Edinburgh which are as follows:

Service - to encourage service to individuals and the community
Skills - to encourage the discovery and development of personal interests and socials and practical skills
Physical Recreation - to encourage participation and improvement in physical activity
Expeditions - to encourage a spirit of adventure and discovery

How much time will it take?

Service

Skills

Physical Recreation

Expeditions

6 months

One section for 6 months and the other section for 3 months

Plan, prepare for and undertake a 3 day, 2 night venture

NOTE: Direct entrants must undertake a further 6 months in either the Service or the longer of the Skills or Physical Recreation Sections


How old do you have to be to do the Silver Award?


To participate in the Silver Award you have to be, at the minimum age, 15.  


The upper age limit for all Awards is the 25th birthday, by which time all activities which count for an Award must be completed.


How can I get started?


If you wish to get involved in the Silver award through 1st Hartford Explorers then come along to our weekly meeting on Tuesday evenings (19:30 hrs). Contact the leaders to demonstrate interest

There is a Duke of Edinburgh Registration fee of £11.50.
