Scouts is needed more in our communities now than it ever has been! Volunteering with Scouts not only changes the lives of young people but it’s #GoodForYou too. Good for your health & happiness and developing new skills.

1st Hartford Scout Group welcomes both girls and boys into its sections. As a member you are joining the largest co-educational youth group in the United Kingdom with around half a million members and worldwide the organization has over 28 million members in 216 countries and territories – the largest friendship organization on the planet!

The Aim of the Association is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.

In Scouting, we believe that young people develop most when they are ‘learning by doing,’ when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves.
The Method of achieving the Aim of the Association is by providing an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training, based on the Scout Promise and Law, and guided by adult leadership. We believe a strong partnership between the group and parents or carers is in the best interest of each member of our Scouting community whilst working towards achieving this Aim.

The individual sections Beavers, Cubs and Scouts cater for children aged between 6 and 14 years respectively and provide a progressive, balanced programme.
